ALL LUCIDI MOTORS DRIVERS INTO POINTS IN THE TWO RACES IN SPA
07/08/2011 - Spa's weekend (Belgium), fourth round of the Italian Formula 3 2011 Championship, ended with all Lucidi Motors' drivers into points in both races.

Victor Guerin (BRA) set the fifth time (2'15.980) in Friday's qualifying, while Kevin Giovesi stopped watches on the tenth absolute time (2'16.476). Edward Cheever was not lucky as he was involved in an incident with another driver when just eight minutes were left to the end of the session. The driver from Rome sustained a strong contusion to the right hand and, unable to get on track after the red flag, had to contempt himself with the eleventh fastest time (2'16.628).

In a wet race one Giovesi ended fifth thanks to a good recovery. Cheever's performance was remarkable too as he ended eighth despite the aching hand. Guerin finished in the top ten with the ninth place.

Race two was held on Sunday morning on a tarmac still humid in some spots but with all cars on slick tyres. Guerin ended with a positive fifth place, while Cheever ended again eighth and was followed under the chequered flag by Giovesi, ninth and again into points.

In the absolute classification, Giovesi is now seventh with 52 points, just 12 shy of the third place. Behind him, Cheever is eighth at 38 while Guerin is eleventh at 25. In the rookies classification, Cheever is sixth with 56 points and has a two points gap to the fifth place; Guerin is seventh at 44 points. In the teams' classification, team Lucidi Motors are third with 71 points, 18 points short the second place.

Gabriele Lucidi (Team Principal):
"The outcome of our weekend was most probably decided in qualifying, when the red flags exposed due to the incident involving Cheever did not allow us to get the most out of our second set of new tyres; starting relatively to the back it has been unavoidably difficult to aim at top positions. Edward has been admirable in deciding to run the two races despite the aching hand".

The Italian Formula 3 Championship will be back on track next 4 September in Adria.
