04/07/2010 - Second seasonal victory for Stephane Richelmi at Imola in race two of the third round of the Italian Formula 3 championship.

In qualifying held on Saturday, the driver from Monaco got on the spotlight with the fourth time (1'42.304) in front of his team mate Sergio Campana (1'42.377). Fifth position among the rookies for Giammarco Raimondo (1'43.270), who was sixteenth overall.

Race one on Sunday confirmed under the chequered flag the starting positions of the first four drivers and Richelmi therefore concluded right at the feet of the podium, while Campana, sixth, confirmed himself into points. Fourth place in the rookies' classification for Raimondo, fourteenth in the final standings.

Race two saw an unleashed Richelmi recovering with great determination from the fifth position on the grid up to the lead of the race during the seventh lap. Vane were the subsequent attacks from Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target), which did not prevent him from crossing the finish line as a winner for the second time after the victory in the season opener at Misano.

Less lucky was Campana's race as he got out of the scene during the second lap due to a contact with Andrea Roda (RC Motorsport); Raimondo obtained his third success among the rookies and the eighth absolute final place.

Richelmi is now third in the classification with 54 points, only eleven points short of the leader. Campana is eighth at 21, while Raimondo is third of the rookies with 64 points, 26 shy of the current classification leader.

Gabriele Lucidi (Team Principal):
"I am moderately satisfied by the outcome of this weekend that saw on the top step of the podium two of our three drivers; it was a pity for Campana who could have done a good race two.
The championship, as expected, is very tight but also open to several drivers that can aim to the success both in the absolute and rookies' classifications: Richelmi and Campana from the one side and Raimondo on the other are among the protagonists and at Imola showed to have the potential to aim at the final victory".

The next round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship is scheduled for 25 July at Mugello.
